Choosing lightness, health, and gratitude every day....

This morning I made myself a simple plate: a fluffy egg white omelet with just a sprinkle of goat cheese, avocado drizzled with sriracha, and a fresh tomato from my garden. Nothing fancy, but deeply satisfying. I’ve noticed lately that food like this....light, fresh, honest, brings me more joy than anything fried, heavy, or overly rich. Somewhere along the way, my taste buds changed, and I realized that my body was asking for something different.

It wasn’t just about food. At Tony Robbins’ Unleash the Power Within earlier this year, something shifted. Listening to him, I paused and thought: If not now, when? In that moment, I decided to become mindful in a way I hadn’t before, mindful of what I put into my body, what I allowed into my thoughts, and how I wanted to feel moving forward.

I turned 70 this year, and I can honestly say I feel lighter, not just in body, but in every way that matters. Certain foods I’ve let go of completely, others I take in small doses now and then. It isn’t about dieting or deprivation — it’s about being intentional. I can feel the difference in how my clothes fit, in the way I carry myself, and in the ease I move through my days.

Change doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t need to be dramatic. It’s small shifts, choosing water instead of something sugary, taking a walk even when it would be easier not to, pausing before deciding what’s on the plate. Over time, these choices become habits, and those habits become a new way of living.

At this stage of life, health feels like freedom. It’s the freedom to keep traveling, to keep discovering, to wake up with energy and a clear mind. And while I can’t control everything, I can control how I care for myself.

This isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence. It's about savoring what feels good and letting that joy ripple outward. A ripe tomato, a good walk a mindful pause are the simple things that truly nourish body, mind and spirit.
